It’s happening… Carricante!
Blindspot Vineyard Expands with New Carricante Grapes
We are thrilled to announce that Blindspot Vineyard has obtained official authorization to expand our vineyard operations by doubling the number of grape vines in the upcoming year of 2024.
At Blindspot Vineyard, our pursuit of being extremely lucky has been characterized by meticulous attention to detail, a commitment to quality, and a deep passion for crafting exceptional wines from Mt. Etna.
The addition of new Carricante grapes alongside our existing Nerello Mascalese vines reflects our desire to diversify our vineyard and deepen the complexity of our wines. The Carricante grape variety, renowned for its vibrant acidity and delicate aromatics, perfectly complements the distinctive characteristics of our Nerello Mascalese grapes which we use for our field blended “Punto Cieco” Etna Rosso
Our existing Carricante unfortunately is very limited and has not allowed us to offer a Etna Bianco wine on a consistent basis. The new plantings of Carricante will allow us to sustainably produce an Etna Bianco Wine in the future without interruption due to just not having enough grapes to be allocated for it’s own Etna Bianco.
The grant of official permission to expand our vineyard is a testament to the hard work and skill of our Wine Sherpa(Ben) and hortaculturist(Andrew) and their respective teams. Their unwavering dedication to the art of winemaking, coupled with the ideal terroir of Blindspot Vineyard, allows us to produce wines that have already received critical acclaim and captivated the palates of a couple of wine connoisseurs worldwide.(watch out World here we come!)
We firmly believe that this expansion will enable us to craft an exceptional Carricante based Etna Bianco wine. From our signature red blends to our newly introduced Carricante-infused whites, our wines will continue to suit every occasion and satisfy immensely.
We invite you to join us on this exciting journey and experience the extraordinary world of Blindspot wines including our new Etna Bianco. Cheers to the shared love of craftsmanship, tradition, and the pursuit of magnificent flavors from Mt. Etna.
